West Coast Kappa Invitational - Avenue of the Giants, Spring 2022

Dates are Tentative

The West Coast Kappa Car Club is looking at the horizon, not the (non-existent) hood ornament, and beginning to plan a weekend run in Spring 2022 in and around the Avenue of the Giants and Humboldt Redwoods State Park.

Obviously pandemic, weather, and global thermonuclear war may affect plans, but we may as well start planning now.

We'd like to invite our neighboring clubs to join us, from British Columbia to Tijuana and everywhere in between. Our PNW brethren kinda inspired this run, although there was also thought being given to a redwoods run for the NorCal NASSAM, so we can get both in.

The current projection is to have a base of operations in Garberville, for a 3 day/2 night event. Might be Saturday through Monday or Friday through Sunday, and folks could obviously stay an extra day if they want.

This is about 4 hours from Sacramento or San Jose, 8 hours from Portland, 12 hours from Seattle or San Diego or Las Vegas, 14 hours from Vancouver BC. Temps are expected in the mid-60s

There are some ~$100/night hotels in the town and we can go out on a drive and find food and photo ops along the Avenue of the Giants and on out to the coast.

Route TBD, but would involve the Avenue of the Giants, some spirited bendy drives through Briceland and Thorn Junction, Bull Creek and Honeydew and Petrolia, or others (I've read interesting stuff about Mattole Road, so we might want to do a maintenance day before and/or after :) ).
